Crunchyroll Expo 2018

Crunchyroll Expo, known as CRX hit labor day weekend in San Jose bringing Anime lovers once again to the Downtown San Jose Convention Center, home of the very successful Fanime. With the major success of Fanime, this new location will more than likely bring major success to this somewhat new convention. The thing with San Jose, is that its a big city with lots of nearby hotels and entertainment, but with less of the congestion you find in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

CRX was held Saturday Sept. 1st through Monday Sept. 3rd bringing a jammed packed weekend with its exhibit hall, artist alley, food, cosplay, panels, anime screenings and even musical performances. One thing I loved was this wall were you can take your photo and hang up as soon as you went up the elevators on the second floor.

The thing to know right off the bat with CRX, is that its not massive, but the perfect size. Its small enough to be able to enjoy everything it has to offer but large enough to bring some pretty big entertainment and names into its lineup. Definitely a good size with any con. The best thing is you can actually meet and talk to some of your favorite cosplayers and content creators.

Of course with every anime convention come those amazing cosplays made by some very talented people. One of the best things about hosting a Con in San Jose is the amazing environement. Its a playground for cosplayers and cosplay photographers, giving you the ability to create some pretty great cosplay shots and bringing those characters to life. You have the City, a park with a small river and a few high rises to light up the sky.

As night started to fall that didn't mean it was over for this con. As a matter of fact performances were held late into the night giving a chance for people to get out of their cosplays and put on some dancing shoes.

One aspect we really enjoyed was the cosplay contest which I thought was great and very energetic with its host who I hope makes a return in 2019. This is one of those events that I really urge people to attend because you get to see and hear how much time and effort was put into some of these cosplays. A real work of art. Overall Cunchryroll was a blast and it will definitely be marked on our calendar.

Overall this con is something that doesn't feel like it's just starting off. I feel that everyone involved knows exactly what its doing and were they want to be in the future. It was very organized with little to no hiccups, something you see a lot of new cons struggle with. Normally, even in their third year cons always suffer or lack something making the experience less than stellar but CRX was definitely a solid convention and I see it just getting bigger and better. I mean for this being the second year only we are impressed.
